Vomero Hill
Weekend a Napoli

Vomero Hill

Discover Naples, in just a few hours, through the Vomero, or rather "Vomero hill", a little "city within the city" that reveals itself to the eye even from the distant port of Naples. Looking up, you cannot miss the majesty of the white structure of the Certosa di San Martino rising on the hill, guardian of the oldest and most monumental Neapolitan nativity scene in the world, a unique place reachable from the Port in just a few minutes: from the Municipio station of metro Line 1 to Piazza Vanvitelli, from Via Toledo with the central funicular up to Piazza Fuga, and from Chiaia with the funicular up to the Cimarosa station.

From Castel Sant'Elmo you can enjoy a unique view over the entire bay. The castle and the adjoining Certosa are gems of architecture and art. Today's Vomero is a residential district, rich in Art Nouveau buildings and villas, with an open-air shopping centre in a large pedestrian area where it is easy to find the most sought-after brands.

Between a visit to the castle and a stop at a museum, you can relax with a stroll through Villa Floridiana, the most beautiful city park. Verdant paths, centuries-old plants and a belvedere that opens onto a view so beautiful it seems to be visited by the gods.
